Dear Members/Friends,

Another year has passed and it’s time again for our annual Imnarja Celebration.  For the last eight years we held this function as an open day affair with many attractions.  As this continues to prove to be successful we are keeping the same format but only adding more attractions!

Imnarja:  The feast of the Saints Peter and Paul marks an important event in the calendar of Maltese traditional festivities.  Many a story is told about how people from all over Malta converge on Buskett to celebrate this popular feast.  The scene is set for a feast of song and food beneath the trees.  The appetising scent of fried rabbit entices the merrymakers to indulge in a good feed washed down with sweet local wine.  The night is then spent in good-humoured mirth and fun, while revellers compete in singing bouts to the strums of guitars and popular local bands.  Here in the UK we can only but try to simulate some of the excitement and traditions that this feast evokes.  The Maltese Culture Movement is once again preparing in earnest for this celebration.  All activities are being held at the Roland Philipps Scout Centre in East London. Look out for the Maltese flags when approaching the centre. For more information about this function and other projects please refer to other pages on this website and Facebook.

The celebrations will start with a Folk Mass at 11.00am. - Fr Victor Camilleri OFM will celebrate Mass with a programme including folk music for this service.  After the mass the Malta High Commissioner H. E. Norman Hamilton will officially open the fair.

Maltese Fair:  Stalls selling Maltese products. - Here you will be able to purchase Galletti, Gbejniet, Twistees, Bigilla, Hobz biz-zejt, Pastizzi, Imqaret, Ravjul, Kinnie, Cisk Lager, Maltese Wines Liqueurs and many other Maltese produce that we can lay our hands on. Tip - those intending to buy frozen goods may want to consider bringing with them a picnic cooler.  In the food department we are once again running a Maltese Kitchen.  The kitchen is dedicated to serving traditional Maltese cuisine.  This year we are once again bringing our Maltese Chef Pawlu of Paolo’s Kitchen, renown for his Maltese traditional cooking!  Among these will be the traditional fenkata (fried rabbit), spaghetti with rabbit sauce, Maltese platter including Maltese sausage, timpana and other traditional Maltese dishes. – Eat to your heart’s content in traditional Maltese style! We will also be running Full Bar serving ice-cold Cisk lager beers and wine, the fabulous Kinnie and other drinks!

Entertainment Fun and Games: As for the entertainment we are having; Donkey Rides, Mobile Zoo, Bouncy Castle, Face Painting, Balloons and Bubbles, Maltese Bus, Tombola, and much more…

Maltese Bus: Go for a ride in this novel Maltese Bus; take photos and discuss with the owners using it for your next event!

Imnarja Grand Draw: This year we are giving this draw a big push in order to raise funds for our Maltese Centre. Most of the communities in the UK have their own Centre except us Maltese.  With your help and support we intend to change this concept.  There are many attractive prizes: First Prize – 2 return flights to Malta including airport taxes from a number of UK Airports. – Please be generous and buy raffle tickets.  Those participating please complete the ticket’s counterfoil and follow the instructions. Good Luck!!!

Entrance is free and everyone is welcome! All activities will finish at 5.00pm.

We now ask you to come and join us celebrate this wonderful feast together with your family and friends, for a fun filled, exciting day and a taste of Maltese culture!
