To the Maltese Community in the United Kingdom and Friends of Malta
Malta Day UK 2017
On 9 September, we will be celebrating the 17th anniversary of Malta Day UK under the auspices of Hon. Deo Debattista MP, Parliamentary Secretary for Consumer Protection and Valletta 18, who looks forward to meeting the Maltese community in the UK.
As you probably know, Malta Day is an annual event organised by the Malta Day UK Committee presided by the Malta High Commission in collaboration with Maltese Associations in the United Kingdom.  It is held to commemorate the feast of Our Lady of Victories and is an excellent way of bringing the Maltese community together.  This year we will also be commemorating the 452nd year since the Great Siege of Malta of 1565.
Malta Day UK will start in the morning with a Fair of Maltese food, beverages and other artisan products, from 10am to 2pm at Westminster Cathedral Hall, Ambrosden Avenue, London SW1P 1QJ (Victoria Station is nearest tube/train station).  A celebratory Mass at Westminster Cathedral will follow at 2.30pm.  Mass will be celebrated by His Grace the Archbishop of Malta Mons. Charles J. Scicluna.  Afterwards, there will be a fireworks display and a celebration within Westminster Cathedral's Square.  We will be joined during Mass and in Westminster Cathedral's Square by the singers Mary Rose Mallia and Renato, who need no introduction with the Maltese community.
Their songs and performances are loved and cherished by Maltese people of all ages.
The day’s events will be concluded at 8pm with a Gala Dinner and Dance at the Kingsway Hall Hotel, 66 Great Queen Street, Covent Garden, London WC2B 5BX.  In the flyer posted to you and on this website please find the booking form for the Dinner and Dance.  Together with this letter and flyer posted to you, you will also find raffle tickets for the Grand Draw with many exciting prizes including a Holiday to Malta staying in one of Malta's most prestigious hotels.  Your participation by purchasing tickets would be very much appreciated and will help enormously in fundraising for this annual event and continue sustaining our culture.  For more information on the Gala Dinner and Dance, please contact the Malta Day UK Committee Secretary, PO Box 2964, London N19 4NS, phone on 020 7272 9000 or email maltese_culture@hotmail.com.
This September, it would be my pleasure to meet you together with your family and friends at what promises to be a day of successful festivities showcasing Maltese faith, heritage and cultural traditions.
Kind regards
Norman Hamilton
High Commissioner for Malta
